Recertification audits, carried out by DNV GL – Business Assurance Denmark, confirm that NLMK DanSteel’s four management systems comply with the best international practices, and that NLMK DanSteel’s organizational structure, responsibilities, procedures, business processes and resources ensure the implementation of a good and effective corporate governance at NLMK DanSteel in all four areas.
NLMK DanSteel’s CEO Yuriy Bokachev says:
“We strive to comply with the best international standards for the industry.
Gaining the certificates shows that implementation of advanced technologies and dedicated focused work with quality, energy, environmental issues and health & safety have been a success.
The successful recertification is another step toward achieving the strategic goals of the company – integration of the four systems in accordance with the common standard for the structure of management systems.
Integration into a single system will allow a thorough and extensive optimization of business performance, and will cover the smallest opportunity to improve the efficiency and attitude to responsibility for the quality, sustainability and safety.
NLMK DanSteel would stress again its commitment to have a safe, sustainable production of high quality steel.”
In December 2012, NLMK DanSteel completed upgrading of the mill and began producing 4000 mm wide plates, adding new products to its portfolio.
The investment of over 120 million euros was part of the company strategy to strengthen its position in the plate market.
NLMK DanSteel has since followed an investment plan with focus on safety, environment, quality, energy, process optimization and renovation of production equipment, in order to follow up on the strategy. In 2015, a new furnace for preheating of certain high alloy slabs was installed. This to get a better quality during the cutting process, and thereby reduce discards. New major investments, which will be carried out in 2016 and in the years ahead, will strengthen NLMK DanSteel’s competitiveness.
